Slush was formed in 1992 in New Liskeard after Adam Leggett and Jamie Weatherbie decided to stop playing in a cheesy rock band and decided to start our own band . We managed to convince our other buddy Martin Woodyatt to join the band and we were a certified 3 piece band with Jamie on Drums , Adam on Vocals and guitar and Martin on lead guitar , after a few failed band names like ( False wooden legs or the raging tornadoes ) we decided Slush was the right fit for our band as we loved Slush riding on our snowboards in northern ontario
At the end of the year we recorded our first album entitled 15 feet ( meaning 15 feet of pig shit ). After playing a bunch of shows in lisky and kirkland lake we recorded our 2nd album 8 months after the first one titled Karl The Pornstar ( don't ask ).
1n 1995 Martin Woodyatt moved out west leaving us to find some fill in players and we finally recruited our first bass player member named Adam Elliot and went into record our 3rd album titled Faces , ( what shitty album ) , for the remainder of the year we continued playing the northern ontario scene and trying to fine tune our musical style and music ability's
In 1996 we finally managed to fine tune our musical style of a fast aggressive skate punk rock band and Slush became the first punk rock band to come out of new liskeard and continued building the northern ontario punk rock music scene hosting the majority of the local shows . Later that year we recorded the 4th album titled Run Mr Postman Run which was a big step for us in our quest for writing faster and more technical music .
1n 1997 the majority of the band moved out west which left us in a 6 month Hiatus , everyone managed to reunite that summer in New Liskeard and recorded our final Licky recording titled ( Lifes pretty easy when your fat and greasy ) , this was the album the expressed our musical writing ability's had matured and it was a classic album and was very popular in lisky in 1997.
1998 was mostly a write off , all band members were living in Vancouver so we played a few shows but throughout the year most of the band members ended up in the interior mountains of BC .
1999 found all the band members back in Vancouver living together so we decided to start playing a bunch of shows and getting ourselves comfortable with a much different music scene than we were use too . Later on that year we recorded our 6th album called ( Call the neighbors the boyz got jobs ) which was an Ep album but once again another transition in our music style which seemed to get faster and heavier . Later that summer we parted ways with Adam Elliot for good and Adam Leggett and Martin Woodyatt decided to move to Australia for a year so the band went on another Hiatus .
In the summer of 2000 the guys returned from Australia and we had another lisky buddy Matt Elliott join the band and play bass guitar which was great and once again were all living together but in Whistler this time so we mostly tried to concentrate on playing more shows than anything . Where shortly after the band members headed back to Australia again but this time we would be saying our final good bye to Martin from Slush .
In 2001 Adam returned from Australia and we decided that Matt would take over lead guitars for Martin which left us without a bass player which we managed to fill with another lisky boy named Gavin Mcdermott and started writing and playing songs.
2002 we went into to record album No 7 entitled Global IIncineration where we had the opportunity of having alot more musical writing and input from Matt on lead guitars and back up vocals.
From 2004 - 2005 We just kept playing shows around Bc and continuing writing material and decided to go shopping for a new studio to record in . After fining the right guy to work with we started recording our 8th album Buried Inside which was another step for the band where we all seemed comfortable playing and writing with each other and had some serious classic tunes on it.
2006 - 2007 The band kept it kind of low key and playing the odd shows but it was obvious the Matt was heading in Different directions than us musically so we all decided to part ways which was a huge hit for us as Matt had been such an excellent musician , writer , and band mate. So there we were once again without a lead guitar player. We continued to play as a 3 piece with no lead guitar player for 3 months which was terrible . Adam had mentioned that are good friend bryce from lisky was out west and heard he played guitar a little ( as bryce was always a drummer in lisky ) , anyways we kind of ignored it for a few months when one day Bryce brought Adam a cd of his guitar playing and we were blown away. The next day Bryce was the new lead guitar player and we started playing shows with him immediately to get him comfortable with being on stage as a guitar player .
2008 saw the band in the same studio with Bryce for the first time and it was amazing , the 9th album titled ( That's what she said ) was an instant classic and so much fun to record .
2009 - 2010 Saw the band playing a pile of shows and playing with some big acts
( protest the hero , strung out , 3 inches of blood , this is a standoff , Gob , a whilhelm scream ,SNFU , etc ) and we had a huge blast
2011 it was almost 3 years again since we had been in the studio so we finally put the album together in the fall and hit the studio , Earlier that summer we had commited to play lisky that christmas which meant we needed to get the rough mix of the album done for that show . The album was mostly finished so we get the 10th album pressed and made a compilation album for lisky called ( The lisky reunion cd )
We all managed to get back to lisky to play in our hometown for the first time in almost 15years . The shows were amazing at the KG so many old faces and so many new faces but we somehow still had northern ontario fans , Amazing
2012 We managed to go on a 5 month hiatus at the start of the year and finally finished the 10th studio album , we are planning our cd release party in the summer . This album is entitled and is hands down our best music to date .
Slush has been together for 20 years and all of our members have been from New liskeard which is fucking amazing as we live on the other side of the country .
